Volunteer Service Bank
The Volunteer Service Bank (VSB) is an agency that connects volunteers with those in need of services. It was started in 1992 after a recommendation from the Brookings Area Coalition on Aging. The main day-to-day focus of the VSB is their medical escort/transport program, which provides no-cost rides to medical appointments for those in need. Rides are provided to by volunteers who are reimbursed only for out-of-town trips. The VSB provides, on average, over one ride per day.
