Huntington's Disease Society of America - South Dakota Chapter
Huntington’s disease (HD) is a fatal genetic disorder that causes the progressive breakdown of nerve cells in the brain. It deteriorates a person’s physical and mental abilities usually during their prime working years and has no cure. The symptoms of HD are described as having ALS, Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s – simultaneously. The Huntington's Disease Society of America - South Dakota Chapter helps individuals and families affected by HD by annually hosting twelve support group meetings and two education days. We also have a social worker available for additional support.
HDSA’s mission is to improve the lives of everyone affected by HD. Therefore, we continue to promote and support research directed at discovering a treatment and ultimately a cure for HD.
