First Fidelity Bank & Tripp County Community Foundation
The Tripp County Community Foundation is a philanthropic fund operated under the auspices and guidelines of the South Dakota Community Foundation. The S.D. Community Foundation owes its existence to the late Governor George Mickelson.
The Tripp County Foundation was started in 1995 by a challenge grant of $100,000 from First Fidelity Bank and the Lillibridge Family. John and Tom Lillibridge offered $50,000 to each of the seven communities in which First Fidelity Banks were located if the communities would raise a matching $50,000.00. The Winner/Colome locations matched the grant and the Tripp County Foundation has raised additional donations, creating a total fund balance today of approximately $1,397,768.55. This was accomplished through the efforts of very generous Tripp County residents.
The Tripp County Community Foundation funds are permanently invested and ~ 4.5% of the fund balance is made available annually to be used for grant making to non-profit organizations or causes in our area. The principal invested is never used, only a portion of the earnings are made available for distribution. This ensures that the funds in this foundation will benefit our community forever.
